Area Effect
In the game: help area effect
Some spells or skills affect every player and mob in the room except your group. This can cause all the mobs (even ones you could not see) to attack you or flee. PCs not in your group will flee, or you will flee. However, you can damage other players with area affect spells or attacks if you both have race war enabled.
