Bounties

A bounty puts a price on the fiercest monster of a zone. From level 4 to 50, the Quests pane (its Repeatable tab) lists the bounties for your level; 'quests bounties' lists them too. Take one with its Take button or 'quests bounty <name>' (the name 'quests bounties' shows, such as 'quests bounty valkim').

You have 3 hours to slay the target. It counts if you land the killing blow, if your charmed follower does, or if anyone in your group does while you are in the room. The gold line on the map and the exit glowing gold in the room view lead you to it. If someone else has slain it first, it comes back when its zone resets, and the way leads to where it appears. A few targets lie behind a riddle, a puzzle or a quest's key: their bounty says so, and the gold line stops where the way does.

A bounty pays 5% of your next level in experience and 300 gold for each of your levels. If you level past its range before you finish it, it pays nothing. At level 50 there is no next level, so it pays the gold alone.

Beware autowalking. "Autowalk there" takes the shortest way and stops for nothing: it can walk you straight into monsters that attack on sight, on the way or in the target's lair, and they can kill you. Watch where it goes, and walk the last rooms yourself: STOP above the hotbar, or Escape, stops a walk at once.

These are the hardest monsters of their zones. Each bounty says what to beware of: spellcasters, breath that hits the whole room, poison, a paralysing touch, monsters that heal as they fight, and the company they keep. Go buffed and at full hit points, and bring friends for the hard ones.

You can hunt one bounty at a time. 'quests bounty drop' gives it up. Done, given up or run out, a bounty is put up again 24 hours later.
