DT
In the game: help death trap
A DT, or death trap, is a room that is your end the moment you walk in: a fall into a chasm, a pool of acid, a crushing ceiling. Usually there are warnings in the rooms next to one, but not always, so look ahead when exploring. The map marks the death traps you know of and never walks you into one.
What a death trap costs you depends on your level and one setting:
- Up to level 10 the gods are kind: they snatch you away and set you down at home with everything you had.
- From level 11, normally: the gods still catch you, but at a price: half the gold you carry is lost. Gold in the bank is never touched, and you keep your equipment.
- From level 11 with hardcore death traps on: the death trap kills you, as in the old days. Your gold and all your equipment are lost (they are recycled back into the game); you do not lose experience.
Hardcore death traps are off unless you turn them on: in Settings (Character), or with set hardcore on, which explains them first and asks you to confirm with set hardcore yes. set hardcore off turns them off again.
