In the game: help evaluate

evaluate <item>

This can be used by anyone in shops to find out how much an item might sell for.

For thieves, this skill tells you the value and some of the vital stats of an object. For example, 'evaluate sword' will tell you interesting stuff about the sword. The numbers may be inaccurate. As you get better at the skill, the numbers become more and more accurate. NOTE: The item must be in your inventory for this to work.
