Poison

Many things can poison you in the game. Many snakes have a poisonous bite. Some things you can eat will poison you. There are many other ways of becoming poisoned. The poison will last for some length of time, varying on how powerful whatever poisoned you is. Your hit point regeneration goes down, and other regen rates lower. If you have a very high hit point regeneration rate, or a way to heal yourself, you may live out the poison. Otherwise, you must find a cleric to remove the poison, or quaff a potion of remove poison.\ Beware of certain very dangerous creatures that have developed particularly potent toxins. These creatures can kill instantly upon a successful poisoning! Some items in the game give resistance or immunity to poison. Resistance makes it less likely the poison will affect you. Immunity makes you impervious to poison. This only helps when the poison first strikes... once you are poisoned, these items will not help you.\ You can look at other people to see if they are poisoned (it says they are 'very ill') but cannot see this effect on yourself.\ Poisons do not all take effect immediately. Some creatures have developed poisonous venoms that have an onset time before the poison affects your body.
