repair all
At a repairman, mends what you wear or carry, for a price. Type list there first: he looks over everything you wear and carry, shows each piece's condition and what mending it costs, with a link to repair each one (or everything at once).
Wear and tear. Everything you wear or wield has a condition, from 100% (new) down to 0%, shown as a bar along its icon and on identify. Its stats stay whole until it breaks.
- Every hit point you lose in a fight wears what you wear: about 1% for every 300 hit points. Low-level characters take smaller hits, so their gear lasts longer.
- Your weapon wears as it deals damage: about 1% for every 1,000.
- A dragon's breath or acid takes 5% off everything you wear at once; fireballs, lightning, cold and the other spells that harm things take 2%. Protection from a breath spares your gear.
- Brittle things wear twice as fast.
- At 50% and again at 25% you are warned, and after every fight you are reminded of anything at 25% or under. At 0% it falls to the ground in scraps.
Fighting steadily, expect to want repairs every six to eight hours of play.
The price is half a percent of the item's value (or its rent, if more) for every percent it lacks: mending something from 50% back to 100% costs a quarter of its value.
