Study
In the game: help study
study
study <skill>
study <class letter>
Your class's spells and skills come with your levels and improve as you use them (see SKILLS). Some abilities outside your class can only be learned from various teachers located throughout the realms, for gold.
Type 'study' in the presence of your GM (or teacher) to see the abilities they know and how good you are at them. Use 'study <ability>' to take a teacher's lesson. You are limited in how proficient you can become through lessons alone. At some point you will have to actually use the ability to improve in it.
You can also 'study <class letter>' to see a list of the abilities you already possess and your proficiency in them. In most cases, the class letter is the first letter of your class name, except it is 'k' for monks (since m is mage) and 'i' for psionists (as p is paladin).
The order of the levels of skill is: awful, bad, poor, fair, good, very good, and superb.
